The Holocaust was a traumatic event that occurred in from 1933-1945. It took place in many countries in Europe, but the country most affected was Germany.
Who was Adolf Hitler and why was he chosen?
Back 100 years ago in world war 1, Germany was defeated and because of their harsh loss the once powerful country was suffering badly, especially since the word wide depression had hit Germany hard. They had a weak government and because of Germany's weak conditions, a new government leader had to be elected. So a powerful leader called Adolf Hitler became Germany's new government leader and he had by his side, the NAZI party. Hitler made a promise to give Germany justice, that's why many people elected and supported Hitler. They didn't know how racist he would be to do this. He killed 6 million Jews in concentration camps and some were executed.
Why did Hitler do this?
Not many people know why Hitler was so cruel, but many people think that it was probably because of his rough beginnings.
Hitler's childhood was not happy.-His parents died when he was quite little and many of his siblings died as well. He lived in Austria and got expelled from lots of schools before moving to Vienna, Austria to try to become an artist. But he felt he wasn't meant to be an artist and moved to Germany to become an architect. (Wow he showed a lot of commitment in finding a job!) When World War I started he joined the army. That where his love of fighting and war began. When WWI ended he started to study politics. He then became Chancellor of Germany and was elected Germany's Dictator. Hitler hated Jews and blamed them for Germany's lack of money because Jews were very smart and high in the business chain. This was why the holocaust began.
